The NZ Clendons connect with the Chitty family through Elizabeth Chitty(1773-1838) who married George Clendon (1761-1839) who was a Cinque Port Pilot in Deal, It was his second marriage.

The New Zealand Clendons trace their ancestry back through a son of this couple, Captain James Reddy Clendon (1800-1872). A daughter, Rebecca, also migrated as briefly did another daughter Louisa who later went to Australia. Reddy was an extremely early settler in New Zealand.
